Higher Self

An 8-Week Program to Reduce Suicidal Thoughts

Free 20-Minute Consultation

There’s always a better choice than ending your life

Sometimes when people are struggling, they have thoughts like

“I wish I didn’t exist,”

“What’s the point of living?” or

“I don’t deserve to be here.”

Some people wish that they could fall asleep, never dream, and never wake up.

Some people experience sudden, intrusive images or urges about hurting themselves.

Some attempt suicide.

In the short-term, these thoughts can feel like a pressure release valve:

at least you can imagine the pain not being there anymore.

In the long-term, these thoughts can lead to

prolonged and painful sadness,

strained relationships, and

missed opportunities to experience joy.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Take the first step in discovering what it feels like to want to live again

  • This program is for anyone who is struggling with chronic suicidality. That means, anyone who often thinks about not existing, dying, or ending their own life.

If you are imminently suicidal, then crisis intervention is necessary. Call 988 or go to your nearest emergency room. However, if you are currently stable enough to not require emergency, in-patient, or partial hospitalization, but still are troubled by wanting to die, this program might be suitable for you.

Like most mental health treatment, there is no guaranteed "cure." While we use evidence-based practices that have helped many people feel less suicidal, each person is unique. Our therapists do their best to give our clients the best support they can.

Talk to one of our therapists to see if the program would be a good fit for you.

  • In the Higher Self program, you would meet with a therapist twice a week to learn skills and gain insights -- the tools you need to want to live your life. The rest of the week, you'd do what you usually do (work, school, home life, etc.). With your therapist's support, you'll implement the skills to make real changes in your life.

Unlike more intensive treatment, you will still have time to stay in school or work.

Unlike less structured talk therapy, Higher Self is focused on reducing suicidal thoughts. The therapist not only listens, but teaches you techniques to improve your life. For example:

    • Mindfulness skills to stay present without getting overwhelmed by emotions

    • Get more restful sleep (suicidal thoughts and sleep issues tend to go together).

    • Social skills to make friends and maintain quality relationships.

    Just to name a few!

After you complete the program, you can join our Higher Self Alumni Group. Here you can connect with people who have gone through similar things and learned the same skills as you. Give and receive support in a weekly group.

  • A: Our minds are made up of different parts. There can be one part of us that shows up at work, and another part comes out when we’re with our friends, and a totally different one when we are alone. We can seem like one person when we’re angry and a wholly different person when we’re cheerful. Our mind is made up of various facets of our personality that contain multitudes and contradictions. Each of these parts plays a role and takes on particular responsibilities to help us navigate the circumstances in our lives. In addition to all these parts, we all have “the you who is not a part”—a Higher Self. Deep down, we have an inner core that has resources of wisdom, compassion, curiosity, and love. Though we don’t always experience it, it’s always there. It has been described by different names by spiritual traditions and psychotherapy frameworks: the soul, the wise-mind, the heart, jiva, the spirit, rūḥ, Buddha nature, yechidah, core consciousness, atman, the Self. For some, it is a spiritual experience. For others, it’s just something that works. In our program, we call it the Higher Self.

Do I contradict myself?

Very well then I contradict myself. I am large,

I contain multitudes.
